This year's Responsible Business report marks a new chapter in how Gateley shares its progress, impact and ambitions. With a refreshed look and feel, the report provides an engaging reflection of the breadth of activity taking place across the business and, importantly, the difference it creates.
At the heart of this report is a simple but important idea: impact extends beyond the business itself. It is shaped through the relationships built, the partnerships formed and the communities supported. Throughout these pages, stories of collaboration, shared effort and long-term commitment demonstrate how meaningful outcomes are achieved when people come together around a common purpose.
Last year, Gateley introduced 14 objectives aligned to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs), creating a clear and measurable framework for Responsible Business activity. Strong progress has been made against these objectives, and this work will continue with the introduction of a new set of goals focused on driving positive impact where it can be most effectively achieved.
Over the past 12 months, colleagues have supported more than 100 causes, raising £100,000 for charity partners and contributing their time through volunteering to support local communities. Collective initiatives, including the first Pedal with Purpose indoor cycling challenge, brought together colleagues across the business to make a meaningful difference while supporting charity partners.
Partnerships have continued to play a vital role in extending impact and creating opportunities for others. This year saw the launch of Gateley Gateway to Netball with Birmingham Panthers, supporting young people through sport, wellbeing and education, while the Gateley Schools Programme with Maiden Cricket is helping to remove barriers to participation by providing high-quality cricket kit for girls in state education. The partnership with the Heart of England Forest supported both woodland creation and opportunities for children from disadvantaged backgrounds to connect with the natural environment.
Together, these partnerships demonstrate the value of collaboration in creating opportunity, widening access, building confidence and supporting the next generation to reach its potential.
Progress has also continued across sustainability. From achieving an EcoVadis 'Committed' rating and advancing the Net Zero 2040 ambition, to delivering practical initiatives focused on resource reuse, biodiversity and carbon reduction, efforts remain focused on minimising environmental impact while embedding sustainability into everyday decision-making. This reflects an understanding that lasting progress is achieved not through individual actions, but through sustained commitment and continuous improvement.
Across every area of Responsible Business activity, the contribution of Gateley's people remains central. Through volunteering, community groups, fundraising and everyday actions, colleagues continue to bring these ambitions to life and help create positive change far beyond the business itself.
As this report demonstrates, meaningful impact is achieved through partnership, collaboration and shared responsibility. While there is always more to do, the progress highlighted throughout these pages provides a strong foundation for the future and reinforces the opportunity to create an even greater positive impact in the years ahead.
